Biography

Lena Seeger is a violin teacher, performer, and composer currently active in the Indianapolis area. She obtained a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Wisconsin at Madison (UW-Madison) in 2010, a Master of Music in 2012, and a Doctor of the Musical Arts in 2015 from Michigan State University (MSU). She studied with Tyrone Greive at UW-Madison and I-Fu Wang at MSU. Other teachers include Jan Sloman (The Meadowmount School), Gerardo Ribiero (Northwestern University), and Ann Setzer (Juilliard Pre-College).

Lena’s formal teaching career began in 2007, as assistant teacher for the Madison Music Maker's Program and chamber music coach for the All University Strings Program at UW-Madison. Following her certification in music pedagogy, she began teaching violin and piano for UW-Madison's Community Lessons Program. While at MSU, she worked for the MSU Community Music School in private violin lessons, group Suzuki violin classes, chamber music, and community outreach.

Lena worked in Baltimore from 2015 until 2025. She managed an independent studio of over 30 students, and performed regularly with the Vento-archi Trio as the violinist and violist. Additionally she has performed with the Midatlantic Symphony Orchestra, the Persian Chakavak Ensemble, and Eredita Orchestra.

Lena's Baltimore students have successfully auditioned into various ensembles, including the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra (BSYO), the Howard County Gifted and Talented (GT) Orchestras, and the Maryland all-state orchestras, some of the most competitive and accelerated student ensembles in the country. Former students have also been accepted to the Baltimore School for the Arts and in accelerated school orchestra programs.

Lena currently resides in Carmel, Indiana with her husband, two children, and hound Winston.
